As I was creating this sketch I tried to give it a sense of symmetry. I don't know but find there is something very German in this piece when I look at it. It has to be the black/yellow/red of the German flag (red/black/white of the old one too) + the fact that the sort of zig-zagging part in the middle reminds me of a German train. Also the sense of symmetry, and the mechanical contraptions echo manufacture/engineering. Anyways, this is a sketch which I really enjoyed drawing.
